Trivia: Forbes Field, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was the world’s first baseball stadium to open on June 30 1909. It was home to the Pittsburgh Pirates until it closed on June 28 1970. The stadium was named after the British General John Forbes during the French and Indian War that captured Fort Pitt from the French Army in 1758. In the first game at Forbes Field, on June 30 1909, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 3 - 2.
